Like any committed professional motorcycle journalist, improving my performance as both a rider and writer is very important to me. Truly understanding my subject and gaining a real insight into arguably the most exciting sport on earth was perhaps one of the main reasons I decided to invest a large sum of money in going racing. Well, that and a very competitive nature, anyway.
With the 2009 season over and done, I'm looking ahead to the Metzeler National Superstock Championship for 2010.
2009 was a mixed season - some great results early in the season, a few set-up and tyre choice mistakes during mid-season and some rotten luck towards the end, with two crashes through no fault of my own causing injury, missed rounds and a sizeable hole in the race budget.
Happily I finished the season third overall, but things could have been so, so different. But then, that's racing and I'm looking forwards to what should be a fantastic 2010.
I'd like to thank everyone who helped this year. Paul Caunce's financial input and moral support has been massive and my wife Nicky has been a real rock, keeping me focused on the racing and sorting me out. Not an easy job!
RJS Superbike, MCT Suspension, Dave The Paint, Rock Oil, ANR Performance, HM Racing, Marshall Honda Peterborough, Skidmarx and Venhill have been hugely supportive, along with many others that offered discounts to ease the financial burden - please visit my sponsors page and take a look at their sites.
I'm still looking for financial help for next season - if you want to be involved in the most exciting sport on earth, I hope you'll download my 2010 sponsorship pack.
Thanks again to everyone, here's to 2010!
